Ayoon wa Azan (Sharon Defies Bush, Powell And Rice)

Jihad Al Khazen      Al-Hayat     2003/08/2

The Israeli government's decision to release hundreds of Palestinian detainees next week could help in prolonging the truce, but this does not guarantee that it will last until the end of the three months that were agreed upon or to extend it after that date.

The U.S. and Israel do admit that the truce has remarkably improved the security situation, but they also insist on dismantling the infrastructure of "terrorism," which means striking Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, which would lead to a Palestinian civil war that no Palestinian party would want to participate in or be held responsible for.

Mahmoud Abbas heard positive things from the Americans, but the measures that could have helped him gain Palestinian popular support for his policy remain extremely limited. Israel has pledged to release a hundred prisoners, but any other decision it makes will be against the peace process.

The Israeli government has decided to expand a settlement in Gaza, and the new Israeli Minister of Accommodation, Ivy Itan, announced that there have been some money transfers to build many houses in East Jerusalem to absorb thousands of new Jews there. President Bush was hosting Ariel Sharon when Israel finished the first stage of the security wall along 123 Km, in addition to 18 Km around Jerusalem, with a total cost of one billion Shekels.

George W. Bush opposes the wall, and so did U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, as they all asked Sharon to stop the construction because it would destroy the peace process as long as it is built on Palestinian territory and separates villages from each other and farmers from their land. When it is finished, the wall will have actually divided almost 40 per cent of the West Bank, thus making it impossible to agree with the Palestinians.

How can a murderer like Sharon, who is accused of corruption along with his two sons, and is wanted worldwide for war crimes, defy the U.S.?

Congressman Tom DeLay, head of the Republican majority, provided me with the answer when I read the details of a lecture he gave at the Knesset, and which comprised all that is racist, decadent and hostile in U.S. policy.

DeLay said that he was "an Israeli at heart," but I only see him as Israeli in his pockets, as many American legislators sold their souls and nation to the Jewish lobby. They support a criminal Nazi country that left the U.S. with no true friend among 1,200 million Arabs and Muslims in exchange for American-Jewish donations for their electoral campaigns (all those who claim to befriend America are forced to).

In addition to his plotting with the Israelis against Palestine, the Arabs and the Muslims, DeLay talks about his wrong ideas in Christianity, as he is part of the Zionist Christians' movement, who are missionaries having turned the religion upside down. Cristianity is the East Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church. It is the Lutheran and Calvin Protestantism. As for the missionary Baptist "Evangelism, in which people like Delay in the "Torah Belt" of the Southern U.S. States believe, I find nothing to say but the fact that it is different from Christianity.

This "different" person said, "Israel is not the problem, but the solution," and that the enemy of Palestinians was not Israel, but Yasser Arafat.

Saeb Erakat said that DeLay's speech "does not help peace." However, Saeb Erakat is an official who has to take others into consideration, but I only represent myself and do not need to consider an American missionary, so I say that DeLay and Ariel Sharon are the enemies of Palestinians, and both their hands are stained with the blood of every Palestinian and Israeli victim. He persuades radical Israelis of their capacity to continue their radicalism as his encouragement of the Israeli government's terrorism is preventing peace between both parties.

DeLay criticized the Roadmap and undermined the importance of the three-month truce, although the first one is the only available chance for peace, and the second has stopped the suicidal attacks and hence the death of more Israelis.

I say that DeLay's policy is bad and his religious perception is wrong. The worst thing is that he is part of George W. Bush's electoral base and the U.S. President, just like any other politician, must respect the stances of his constituency.

Once again, Bush, Powell and Rice object to the security wall and the murderer Sharon defies them with the help of people like DeLay. More Palestinians and Israelis die because of the political and religious radicalism of certain people who combine crime and stupidity, with their hands stained with the same blood than the murderers themselves.
